Black Garlic Brownies

INGREDIENTS

9oz Quality dark chocolate 70-85%

1 cup of butter

1.5 cups of sugar

2 teaspoons of vanilla essence

1/2 bulb of black garlic

1 cup of plain flour

1/2 teaspoon of salt

4 eggs

METHOD

Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 or 160 fan oven, or Gas Mark 4

Step 2: Grease a 9×9” tin and set aside.

Step 3: Melt the butter and chocolate together in a bowl over a pan of steaming water. Melt until blended as overheating may cause the butter to seperate.

Step 4: Remove from heat and mix in the sugar. The mixture will be grainy. Add one egg at a time, whisking each egg into the batter.

Step 5: In a small bowl, use a fork to mash the Black Garlic to a paste.

Step 6: Add the garlic, salt and vanilla essence to the batter and mix thoroughly.

Step 7: Add flour to batter and mix thoroughly.

Step 8: Pour batter into tin and spread evenly.

Step 9: Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until the top has a dull finish

Step 10: Cool on wire rack and cut into squares.
